OZ Wheels (OZ Racing) including the, OZ Fittipaldi & OZ Vega, were very popular Wheels back in the 80’s and 90’s. In 1989 rap duo EPMD made the rap album “Unfinished Business” and adorned us with a classic album cover with both OZ Racing Wheels. On the left, we have rapper Parrish Smith sitting on the hood of a W124 series Mercedes Benz 300E sitting on OZ Fittipaldi (cousin to the OZ Futura). On the right we have rapper Erick Sermon sitting on the hood of a ChevroletCamaro IROC-Z sitting on a set of OZ Vega.
The Veilside Supra was a game changer, it spawned a whole body kit movement in the late 90’s. I remember one of my friends had the veilside bumper on his 96 civic coupe, and another on his 95 prelude, and a few years later on the hero car in the prolific car movie, The Fast and the Furious. At the time, the styling was revolutionary. The Swooping lines, all the vents and that pedestal style wing. Also new, was the JDM Wheels, the Veilside Andrew Racing V Wheels. The Veilside Andrew Racing V feature a thick 5 spoke design with a unique center cap covering the lug nuts. The Veilside Andrew Racing V were manufactured by SSR Wheels and featured 2 piece construction.
The Ferrari F40, inspiration to so much. The Wheels inspired so quite a few other muscular 5 spoke wheels such as the Autosrada Modena, HRE 505 and another variation by Compomotive to name a few. What about F40 wings of the 90’s. Even the Pirelli P Zero was developed with the Ferrari F40 in mind. The radical styling of the Ferrari F40 made it one of the poster cars of the day. To this day I think it is one of the best looking cars ever made. These Ferrari F40 pictures were taken through the window of Ferrari of Beverly Hills. I happen to see the F40 glaring at me while cruising down Wilshire folloing my Birthday Dinner nearby and decided to take a few snaps.
