This Bosozoku Style Toyota Cresta SSR MKIII JDM Wheels was one of the most memorable cars at the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon. Not the only car on SSR MKIII, as the Liberty Walk LAMBORGHINI MIURA was also wearing a set, this Cresta has a wider set by far. Shark Nose, a wing, a spoiler, a 2 foot front splitter, this car has all the elements of the Bosozoku and Silhouette styles.SSR MKIII JDM Wheels on Bosozoku Silhouette Toyota Cresta at Tokyo Auto Salon 2018SSR MKIII JDM Wheels on Bosozoku Silhouette Toyota Cresta at Tokyo Auto Salon 2018SSR MKIII JDM Wheels on Bosozoku Silhouette Toyota Cresta at Tokyo Auto Salon 2018
The Enkei M5F Aero Bortex are practically like having 5 sets of JDM Wheels in one. The base wheel of the Enkei M5F Aero Bortex has a similar look to the more popular Enkei 92, but with different covering options. From left to right: a flat cap option, a hex cap center lock style option, a dust cap center cap style option, a tinted clear poly-carbonate option, and lastly a full aero turbofan style option.
The VOLK RACING Gr.A by Rays Engineering is a forged JDM Wheel that was brought to us in 1986. The VOLK RACING Gr.A is a mesh wheel which features 3 piece construction and a covered lug nut center cap system. Pictured here are the VOLK RACING Gr.A mounted to a C10 Nissan Skyline at the Datsun Swap Meet in Eagle Rock, CA. At over 30 years old, the VOLK RACING Gr.A is still a great classic JDM wheel.
The SSR EX-C NEO were one of the most sought after JDM Wheels to hit stateside in the JDM Wheel craze of the late 80’s and early 90’s. At the time, the SSR EX-C NEO were more popular than the SSR EX-C Fin and SSR EX-C Mesh, but right after the Racing Hart Super Fin which were also made by SSR. What all of the named wheels had in common was the SSR signature 2 piece construction with a face bolted on to a welded barrel fastened by 20 bolts; and also the theft deterrent Electron key system which requires a magnetic key to unlock the center caps. Unlike the SSR EX-C Fin and Mesh siblings, the SSR EX-C Neo had an additional coin on top of the main fitting which on the NEO’s which had a circular rubber grip as opposed to the hex style nut. Finding a set of SSR NEO’s isn’t impossible, but I will consider them to be one of the top JDM Wheels of all time.
The Tom’s Racing New Action are lightweight JDM Wheels made specifically for older Toyota cars from the 80’s and the 90’s. The Tom’s Racing feature 2 piece welded design with a distinct dual spoke cross design. Pictured here are the Tom’s New Action in 15″ diameter on a AW11 Toyota MR2 at the at the Toyotafest 2018 in Long Beach, CA.Tom’s Racing New Action on Toyota MR2 AW11 Toyotafest 2018 – JDM Wheels
The MUGEN CR-X PRO Honda CR-X is a great looking interpretation from the guys at MUGEN POWER. The MUGEN CR-X PRO had a full body kit including flared fenders which have the tiny CR-X a muscular look. The wheels predate Mugen branded wheels, but I believe are FORTRAN ASSO JDM Wheels which make sense since Mugen used FORTRAN on the Mugen MR-5.
The Hayashi Command are old school JDM Wheels from Hayashi Racing in Japan. The Hayashi Command feature a 4 spoke design and 3 piece construction which is all welded together. This set of Hayashi Command sits on a RA29 series Toyota Celica GT at the Toyotafest 2018 in Long Beach, CA.This set of Hayashi Command look to have been polished. A neat feature of the Command are the how the wheel register is painted black which gives the face the illusion of floating spokes; if that makes sense.Rear view of the RA29 Celica; the lines of this Toyota are classic; and the pearl orange paint accentuates it perfectly.
