The Drag Progressive by Fortran Wheels, better known as the DRAG PRO, are JDM Wheels that are best known to be the brother to the Mugen MR-5. The The Drag Progressive is light weight 5 spoke wheel which feature one piece construction. The most noteable feature of the Drag Pros are the locking center cap and individual caps for each lug nut which gives them a very smooth look. Although most popular fitment is 4×100 popular for Honda Civic or Mazda Miata, pictured is a rare 5 lug fitment on a Z32 Nissan 300ZX Fairlady.
When it comes to 90’s JDM Tuning shops, Abflug is one of the top dogs. Most notable for the Toyota Supra’s they tuned, the Mazda RX7’s Nissan 300ZX and Nissan Skyline were all top notch. All pictured on their happy looking type-GTM body kits and on a version of thier Abflug Gran Revolfe JDM Wheels; whether its the Abflug Gran Revolfe Face 1, Abflug Gran Revolfe Face 2 or Abflug Gran Revolfe Face 3 JDM Wheels.
The Watanabe RS8 / Watanabe RS Eight are JDM Wheels made by SSR Wheels aka Speedstar Racing. The Watanabe RS8 also referred to as the SSR RS8 are 2 piece wheels with a removable face bolted in to an aluminum barrel. As the name implies, the Watanabe RS8 has the classic Watanabe wheels 8 spoke design. Pictured are the Watanabe RS8 / Watanabe RS Eight on a Mazda Capella Estate, R32 Nissan Skyline and on a Z32 Nissan 300ZX Fairlady.
Napre Japan NJ-901 & NJ-911 are JDM Wheels that we did not get much of here stateside. The Napre Japan NJ-901 feature a twisted 5 spoke design and is shown mounted to a Z32 Nissan 300zx Fairlady Z. The Napre NJ-911 features a mesh type design with covered lug nuts mounted on a Toyota Mark-II. Both Napre Wheels feature 2 piece construction.
The Hasemi Sport S5 are JDM Wheels with a little racing pedigree; as they were made for the Hasemi racing Team in Japan. The Hasemi Sport S5 are made by SSR Wheels and feature their classic 2 piece construction, with the face bolted in a 20 bolt barrel. Hasemi Sport S5 also utilizes the Speedstar Racing electron locking mechanism on the center caps which aids in theft prevention. Shown are the Hasemi Sport S5 on a Z32 Nissan 300ZX Fairlady Z.
Watanabe makes the quintessential Banana Type 8 spoke JDM wheels in a few different yet similar styles. Due to the spoke shape and lip size, I believe the Watanabe wheels pictures are both the Watanabe F8 type. On the left is a Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo Fairlady Z32, and on the right a Nissan Skyline GT-R R32; both some beautiful Machines.
The Dunlop Super Xiphos are JDM Wheels that really were not as popular as many others, but definitely had a really cool look to them. The Dunlop Super Xiphos are 3 piece wheels which feature a classic 5 spoke star design with exposed bolts on mounted on top of the lip. Rounded edges of the spoke give the Super Xiphos a unique look from other popular 5 spoke wheels of the time. Pictured in the ad are the Super Xiphos mounted to a Nissan Fairlady Z 300ZX Z32 series.
